I grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan and spent a good deal of my childhood in Duesseldorf, Germany as well. My father was the Chief Illustrator for The Detroit News and my mother was a writer. I had the good fortune to grow up in a very loving and artistically indulgent home.
I hold a BA in Fine Arts and English Literature and an MFA from Wayne State University. I worked as a Senior Writer for Saatci & Saatchi Advertising and was a Group Creative Director for Young & Rubicam Advertising.
When my young family moved to Harbor Springs, Michigan, I taught Comparative Literature and Life Drawing at North Central Michigan College.
Today, I have devoted my life to painting--- mostly Plein Air in Northern Michigan. Recent Exhibits include a show at The University of Michigan and another at Crooked Tree Arts Center: Painting Grandeur--- Journeys of a National Parks Artist. It runs in tandem with Ansel Adams Masterworks.
