Bio:

With soft pastels I paint "Roadside Landscapes", those Michigan everyday, ordinary places we drive past communting to work and traveling for fun or business.  I keep a camera in my car but more often than not the photos I paint from are snapped with my phone. Listening to a lifelong ambition to paint, I began working with pastels in July 2011 in a pastel workshop with artist Fran Seikaly. Subsequent workshops with Fran, Mary Jane Erhard, Vianna Szabo, Karen Margulis, Dawn Emerson and Bethany Fields enable me to continue to learn and grow as a pastel landscape artist. With my paintings I strive to portray the light, form and memories of place in our backyards, down the street, in a quiet field or in a small stand of trees. Original pastel paintings and Giclee reproductions are available from the artist, the Petri Gallery in Pentwater, Michigan and at various art festivals every summer in Michigan.  Please see www.RichardFranzPastelArt.com for more information.
