Bio:

Janice Paulson - Pastel Artist

"To paint is to capture a moment in time which will never be exactly the same again."

Janice Paulson began her journey as a Doll artisan in the late 1980’s.  She created porcelain dolls, exhibited across the Midwest and taught doll-making for 10 years.

Twenty years ago she experimented with painting landscapes.  Now she paints full time in and around Spring Lake, Michigan, Laguna Beach, California and Kauai, Hawaii.  She is a member of Grand Valley Artists, Grand Valley Artists Plein Air Group, Ottawa Shores Plein Air Group and The Great Lakes Pastel Society.  She has studied her craft in classes and seminars in Michigan, California and most recently in Southern France.  “I am surrounded by wonderful artists who continue to inspire me.”

"I enjoy painting in Plein Air.  My favorite memories as a child included walking on the beach and playing in the surf.  I love to share my feelings of the tranquility and drama of the shore through my paintings. I am blessed to live in Michigan where the change of seasons offers a rare opportunity to paint the constantly-changing effect of light on clouds, waves, sand, fields, flowers and forests.”
